ON THE final weekend of Swindon & District Winter League action, Lawn A rounded off their campaign with a close Division One battle against Abbey Meads A, a contest they edged 43-37 as goal shooter Holly Thompson received the player of the match honours.
Division Two winners Nationwide A got the better of Lawn B, whose wing attack Jess Hembrough was named player of the match.
In Division Three, Nationwide C were beaten 40-29 by Fairford B, while Royal Wootton Bassett’s B team lost out to Jets B 32-24 in Division Four, despite a player of the match effort from Jess Smith Lawn D were edged out by a single goal by Faringdon, with goal attack Holly Atkinson the player of the match as Lawn lost out 43-42.
Division Five winners Royal Wootton Bassett C came out on top against Ferndale in their final game, 60-20, with Claire Arthur being Bassett’s player of the match.
Two of Bassett’s three teams were promoted this season, with club coach Tracy Watt named South West Grass Roots Coach of the Year.
Lawn E came out on top by the odd goal against Raychem G, triumphing 35-34, after Lawn centre Lauren Twine made some crucial drives, intercepts and feeds into the circle to help her side to victory n LAWN’S Regional League Two squad travelled to Bristol to take on Crossbow, but despite a strong performance in the second half, they went down 58-33.
- LAWN’S U12s and U16s took part in Sunday’s Salisbury tournament, with the U16s finishing as runners up in their group, while the U12s won three of six matches.
Lawn U11s A lost their Swindon League match to Raychem 23-4, the B team beat Croft 11-3, while the U14s saw off Fairford 24-18.
