JAZZ Carlin gets her Commonwealth Games campaign under way in the early hours of Sunday morning when she competes in the heats of the 800m freestyle.
The Swindon swimmer has already made her mark at the Games after being given the honour of Team Wales’ flag bearer for Wednesday’s opening ceremony but now turns her attentions to the pool.
Carlin, who won two silver medals at the Rio Olympics in 2016, heads into the 800m as defending champion, having struck gold at Glasgow four years ago.
The 27-year-old goes in the second of two heats at 3.11am BST on Sunday, with the final scheduled to take place on Monday.
Carlin is seeking to add to the four Commonwealth medals she has already won in her career, having also won 200m free silver alongside her 800m gold in Glasgow as well as two additional medals in Delhi back in 2010.
