FORMER world championship semi-finalist Dennis Smith will be amongst the top local professional players in action when the Swindon & District Darts League hold a special fund-raising event early next month.
Smith, who reached the semis at the PDC World Championship in 2000, will be part of an Under-50s team to take on a contingent of Over-50s players at Rodbourne Cheney Working Men’s Club on Saturday, February 2.
Current PDC player Lee Evans joins Smith in the Under-50s team, while Jonny Haines, who played in the PDC World Championship in 2013, is amongst those in the Over-50s line-up.
The league hope to make the match an annual event in memory of past players, with this year Steve ‘Spike’ Squires honoured after he died last year.
Money will also be raised for a charity chosen by the winning team, with the event due to start at 6pm.
