SWINDON’S David Howell will look to avoid missing his 12th cut in a row this week as he begins his first round at the British Masters on Thursday afternoon.
Hosted by Ryder Cup hero, Tommy Fleetwood, Howell will take to the Hillside Golf Club in Southport alongside Tyrrell Hatton, Martin Kaymer and Matt Wallace, as well as several other big names from across the European Tour.
Howell has not enjoyed any success at all so far this season and his last four starts have seen him fail to break inside the top 100 on the leaderboard.
The 43-year-old will hope he can draw some inspiration from his last win on Tour – the 2013 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship – a course which holds similarities to this week’s layout.
Howell begins his first round by teeing off on the 10th hole at 1.40pm and will be accompanied by American Jon Catlin and Spaniard Alejandro Canizares.
