SWINDON’S Shona O’Dwyer captained Wales to a silver medal at the recent Netball Europe U21 competition.
The tournament in Worcester was O’Dwyer’s third and final chance to compete in a Netball Europe U21 event.
Wales began their tournament with a hard-fought victory over a strong Scotland team.
Next up was a match against England, and the game was tightly contested for three quarters before Wales fell behind in the fourth to succumb to defeat.
This meant Wales needed to beat Northern Ireland in their final match to secure a silver medal.
The game started tightly, but Wales had edged ahead by the end to take an impressive win and finish as runners-up in the event behind England.
O’Dwyer said: “We worked tirelessly for each other and our coaches, while producing some fantastic netball that we should all be proud of.”
The competition was held at Worcester Arena, the home of Severn Stars Super League Netball team, who O’Dwyer has represented for the last two seasons.
