SWINDON Town have completed the loan signing of AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper, Mark Travers.
The 21-year-old will join Town for the remainder of the season, though it is understood the Cherries do have a 24-hour recall option throughout January.
Town, who missed out on experienced stopper Joe Day this week, also saw Matej Kovar depart the County Ground on Wednesday after Manchester United recalled the 20-year-old back to Old Trafford.
However, with Joe Fryer likely to sign a new deal with the Robins to remain until the summer, Sheridan will have two young goalkeepers at his disposal once again.
The 21-year-old's loan is the first time he has left Dean Court for a full-time outfit since signing professional terms.
Travers started his youth career in England in 2016, following spells at Cherry Orchard and Shamrock Rovers in Ireland.
He was loaned out to Weymouth in August 2017, where he made 23 appearances while also scoring on his debut in a 3-2 win over Bishop's Stortford.
Upon returning, Travers has been in the Cherries’ squad 37 times in total, though the stopper has only played nine times, including two Premier League appearances in the 2018-19 season and one more in the subsequent campaign.
In May 2019, the young goalkeeper was called up to start for Bournemouth's first-team, helping his side beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0.
Town’s new signing has played twice this season too - once in a 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers on the opening day of the Championship season, and then in a 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in the third round of the League Cup.
Travers has represented the Republic of Ireland youth sides from Under 15-19s and received a call up to the senior squad in March 2019 where he has played in two International friendlies.
The Irishman is likely to be handed his Town debut in front of the Sky Sports cameras on Saturday as Swindon travel to Ipswich Town.
