WILTSHIRE golfer Jordan Smith is set to make his US Open debut on Thursday when the tournament kicks off at Torrey Pines.
The Chippenham man qualified for one of golf's four 'majors' by virtue of finishing among the top 10 points leaders from a three-event European Tour series in the month leading into the US Open.
Three highly commendable finishes in his past three European Tour events - including a tie for third at Made in HimmerLand event - has seen Smith unexpectedly qualify for the third major of the year, where he will tee off alongside two young, American qualifiers in Taylor Montgomery and Hayden Buckley.
The trio - all of whom are making their US Open debuts - will tee off from the first at 12:41 PDT - therefore Smith's UK fans will have to wait until almost 9pm BST to watch their favourite on Thursday.
The Bowood Golf Club member will be starting in just his fourth career major after mixed results at the Open Championship and PGA Championship in previous years.
Smith finished in a tie for ninth at the PGA Championship in 2017 before missing the cut at the same tournament and the Open the following year.
