SWINDON Town head coach Ben Garner confirmed the club has made contact with the EFL to try and find out why Brett Pitman and Jonathan Grounds' have not yet reported back for the new season.
The pair of experienced professionals saw their initial contracts at Town run out at the end of last season, only for the club to then trigger a one-year extension for both.
But following a period where no one at the club was paid their June wage, Pitman and Grounds did not return to training in early July and are still yet to make contact with anyone at the County Ground.
Garner did confirm, however, that Jack Payne remains with the squad despite a clause in his contract allowing the midfielder to leave for free following Town's relegation from League One.
Discussing the situation regarding Pitman and Grounds though, Garner said: "We’re looking into that now.
"We’ve made contact with the EFL to find out the situation. They weren’t in on Thursday but we’re looking into it to find out the exact circumstances of those two.
"But we’re focused on who’s in the building, and the response from the players on my first day was very refreshing, very positive. My first day couldn’t have gone any better to be honest."
