SWINDON Town owner Clem Morfuni is confident the positive momentum generated in his early tenure can be maintained for years, regardless of whether he is in England or his native Australia.
Morfuni marked the end of his third week in charge of Swindon by driving around town in a branded van on Thursday in order to engage with the fan base and try to drive season ticket sales.
Fans turned out in their droves as Morfuni skipped from Don Rogers Sports shop to the Outlet Village to the County Ground and took photos with anyone who asked.
The Town owner eventually arrived at SN1 to sell season tickets at the windows in the Town End while encouraging people to buy replica shirts in time for Saturday’s first home game against Carlisle United.
Speaking to Adver Sport about how he hopes to continue the feel-good factor around the club following the aptly named Clem on Tour campaign, Morfuni said: “I won’t always be in the country, but we’ve got Rob Angus here and some other key staff.
“I’ll talk to them quite regularly like I talk to my other businesses around the world. I’ll talk to them on the phone to make sure everything is right and that we continue engaging with the supporters.
“I’ve been talking to the supporters for the last three or four years, so the distance has never been an issue for me – it’s second nature.
“I think the momentum is good right now, so we just need to make sure we maintain it. That shouldn’t be an issue for us because we’ve got so many good people at the club.”

The club has already well passed the half-way mark in its Race to 6K drive that has encouraged supporters to buy season tickets for the 2021-22 League Two campaign.
Morfuni said the club has got several other ideas in order to continue the engagement at a high level but would not reveal exactly what they were until the time is right.
He said: “I’ve always got ideas about what else we can do, but it will be a case of going through them and seeing when is the best time to do it.
“We have ideas all the time, and usually when we have an idea we get on and do it.
“You can see over the past three weeks what we’ve done, we have ideas, and we act on them quickly. We don’t procrastinate, and that’s why we are where we are today.”
