SWINDON Town Official Supporters Club board member Tim Keen reflects on a derby-day win, looks forward to the second advisory board meeting, and congratulates all of the players to receive an international call up in this week’s Town Talk.
Is everyone still buzzing after Saturday’s derby day victory over Rovers?
For the lucky 700 STFC fans who bagged a ticket, it must have been worth every drop of rain that soaked them to the skin.
I think I must have watched the goal celebration from Harry McKirdy about a dozen times on Twitter – so to have been a part of those celebrations at the Memorial Ground must have been something else!
The other thing that struck me about the result on Saturday was the togetherness and team spirit that is clearly strongly embedded in every member of the squad. Watching the subs skidding down the pitch to celebrate with McKirdy was just fantastic to see and something that bodes well for the season in general.
Garner-ball is now starting to become a reality and I’m personally loving the attention to detail that Ben Garner and the coaches are applying to every match – the statistics and the sports science behind the results is starting to reap rewards. It’s clearly a work in progress, but little by little you can see it starting to take shape on the pitch.
Off the pitch we have the second advisory board meeting this week and I know a lot of fans have already contacted the Official Supporters Club with questions – please continue to do so and we will ensure these questions are put to Rob Angus, Clem Morfuni, and Zavier Austin.
We also have a date for the diary – on Sunday, October 31, Swindon Town Women are playing Exeter City FC with kick-off at 2pm.
We are planning to support this fixture (details to be confirmed) and it would be good to see as many fans as possible attend the match to cheer on the players!
Finally, I’d like to congratulate all of the players who have received international call-ups.
I personally can’t remember a time when we’ve had so many players grabbing the attention of the international managers and long may it continue! Forest Green Rovers will be tough place to go to with so many players missing - but what a reflection on the quality of our squad right now. COYR!
