Swindon Town’s season is over and club’s across the country have turned their attention to the transfer market, here is what has happened already.
Having only finished their season five days ago, Swindon are yet to release their own retained list and because of the legacy of their transfer embargo at present Town only have seven players contracted for the next season.
Harry McKirdy, Ellis Iandolo, Lewis Ward, Ben Gladwin, Harry Parsons, George Cowmeadow, and Harrison Minturn are the only players contracted for next term having signed extensions during the season.
This is going to make it a busy summer for Ben Chorley and Ben Garner attempting to retain the core of the squad that made it to the League Two play-offs, with only three starters for the final game at Port Vale being under contract.
But with the extra time most teams have had since their season ended on 7th May, 18 of the sides who are confirmed to be in League Two next season have made decisions on their players and published their retained lists.
A few teams have acted quickly to snap up the available talent, with Stevenage snapping up three players on Monday as Steve Evans looks to rebuild the side that once again survived by the skin of their teeth, with 15 players moving on from the Lamex Stadium.
Michael Bostwick, 34, made his loan move from Burton permanent, Carl Piergianni, 28, has arrived from relegated Oldham, and goalkeeper Aaron Chapman, 31, has arrived from Steve Evans’ old club Gillingham.
Bradford City have also been busy having added four players already and letting six walk, as Mark Hughes prepares for his first transfer window in the EFL with expectations of finally getting the Bantams out of League Two.
Jamie Walker, 28, has made his loan move from Hearts into a permanent stay in Yorkshire, as well as Harry Lewis, 24, from Southampton, 24-year-old defender Matthew Platt from Barrow, and they have bought Jake Young, 20, from League Two champions Forest Green for an undisclosed fee.
Newly relegated Crewe Alexandra have added former Swindon midfielder Connor Thomas, 28, following his release from Cheltenham Town and Kelvin Mellor, 31, has dropped down from League One Morecambe to join the Staffordshire club.
Carlisle United have added midfielder Owen Moxon, 24, from Annan Athletic, Harrison Biggins, 26, has joined Doncaster Rovers from Fleetwood Town, and goalkeeper Richard O’Donnell, 33, has gone to Rochdale after being let go by Bradford.
