Swindon Town will look to make numerous improvements to the stadium in its off-season as it announces millions of pounds of debt had been paid off.

The club's debt has been cut by a further £2.8 million according to the latest set of minutes from the STFC Advisory Board.

It revealed that the club’s debt has been cut from an estimated £4.5 million to circa £1.7 million as Swindon continue to pay back the loans the club had been saddled with.

Swindon was taken off the EFL’s Embargo Reporting Service last week and they are on track with their repayments to HMRC, the EFL, Swindon Borough Council and others.

The official accounts for the year are supposedly on schedule to be issued at the end of May, as they look to comply with all of their financial obligations, says the report.

Another update in the minutes was with the stadium, as maintenance and repair plans are being drawn up by Stadium and Safety Manager Noel Jeffs to be reviewed by Clem Morfuni before the work begins over the summer.

This is likely to lead to significant investment into the PA system, and turnstiles ticketing systems around the ground, as well as major works being done to the pitch at the County Ground and at the training ground.

All of these issues were supposedly caused by “decades of neglect and under-investment in the stadium.”
