Swindon Town have confirmed the signing of former Ayr United striker Tomi Adeloye on a two-year contract.
The 26-year-old striker joins Swindon following a strong season in Scotland, where he was the fourth highest goal scorer in the Scottish Championship last season where his 11 league goals kept the Honest Men in the second tier.
Adeloye departed Ayr at the end of last season on the expiry of his contract after one season having previously played for Barnet and Dagenham and Redbridge, following signing his first professional deal for then Premier League outfit Stoke City in 2014.
Speaking to club media after joining the club, he said: “I had a very honest chat with Scott (Lindsey) and he told me how he wants this team to play, so I knew straight away I wanted to come here.
“The club did really well last season in getting to the play-offs and their attractive football is really appealing for any player, so I really want to be a part of that and most importantly, score goals.
“I finished last season strongly with Ayr United who were fantastic in helping establish me as a goal scorer, so I want to push on and show I can cut it in League Two.”
Adeloye becomes Swindon’s third addition of the day following the earlier signings of Saidou Khan and Remeao Hutton, at six foot one inches tall, he wall add a new dimension to the forward line at the County Ground.
Technical Director Sandro Di Michele said: “Tomi is a really interesting player who has had to wait a little while for a break in the game, but worked incredibly hard in non-league and had a great season at Ayr last term.
“Importantly, he gives us something a bit different up top with a real presence and physicality, so I’m really looking forward to seeing him in a Town shirt when the new season gets underway.”
