FORMER Swindon Town loanee Harry Toffolo has secured a move to the Premier League after signing for recently-promoted Nottingham Forest.

Steve Cooper's men acquired both Lewis O'Brien and Toffolo from Huddersfield Town for a reported £10 million following impressive campaigns in the Championship last term.

Speaking to Forest's website after signing, left-back Toffolo said: “I’m extremely delighted to be here, to be able to join a football club with this much stature is fantastic and to have the opportunity to play in the Premier League is something I couldn’t turn down.

“I’m excited, really looking forward to meeting the lads and we want to push forward in this division. We’ll push each other every day and we’ve got a fantastic squad being put together.

“I’m a player who wears his heart on his sleeve and I’m someone that will fight for the badge and for the team every single minute and now I can’t wait to get started.”

Toffolo enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at the County Ground back in 2014-15, playing 30 times and notching eight assists - his best in a season - and one goal as Town reached the League One play-off final before suffering defeat to Preston North End.

At the start of his loan spell, Toffolo famously sent out a request on Twitter for charities to contact him over ways he could help after training.

"If anyone has any charity work in Swindon, I am willing to do my bit! Let me know.", he posted.

Despite apparent wishes to sign for Town, Toffolo returned to parent club Norwich City but struggled to break into the first team.

The defender experienced loan spells with Rotherham United, Peterborough United, Scunthorpe United, Doncaster Rovers, and Millwall before leaving Carrow Road for Lincoln City in 2018.

A really strong 18 months with the Imps secured Toffolo a move to Huddersfield in the Championship – a club he played for 98 times prior to moving on to Forest.

The 26-year-old will be joined at Forest by ex-Manchester United and England star Jesse Lingard after the forward signed a one-year contract at the City Ground.

The 29-year-old, who left Old Trafford this summer after his contract expired, had also been linked with West Ham United – where he spent half a season on loan in 2021, and Everton.

Lingard is the 11th signing made by Forest as they prepare for their first season in the top-flight in 23 years.
