A RAMPANT first-half display from Chippenham Town saw any goalscoring worries well and truly forgotten as they crushed Yate Town 4-0 away in the BGB Premier Division.

Having drawn blanks in three consecutive games, the Bluebirds have now scored nine goals in a week as they easily brushed aside Yate at Lodge Road.

David Pratt's brace added to Kye Holly's penalty before Sam Allison grabbed a fourth late on as Chippenham re-ignited their promotion hopes.

The visitors opened the scoring on six minutes Ashley Williams brought down Sean Seavill in the box, and Holly made no mistake with the resulting spot kick.

Just seven minutes later Chippenham doubled their advantage on the break, as Scott Lye raced clear and squared the ball for Pratt, whose scuffed effort found its way home.

Although Aaron Blakemore and Matt Rawlins both went close for Yate, the visitors confirmed their dominance with a third, two minutes before half-time.

Kevin Halliday flicked on for Pratt to chase through, and although his initial shot was save by keeper Tony Court, the front man was quickest to tuck home the rebound.

After the break Yate rallied, but they were unable to break down a stubborn Chippenham defence.

And the Bluebirds put the result beyond any doubt in the 79th minute when Allison made no mistake after a shot from Seavill had been blocked.

Cirencester Town suffered a blow in their bid to beat the drop when they lost 3-1 at Bashley.

Paul Cochlin's equaliser for the Centurions was sandwiched in between a first half Richard Gillespie double.

And Ryan Moss made sure of the win for the home side in the 83rd minute.
