MARK Collier was hoping to have a selection headache after last night, but he had to settle for a nasty hangover instead after his Supermarine side were thrashed 6-0 by rampant Clevedon Town.

With a place in the semi-finals of the Errea (Southern League) Cup at stake, Collier invited some of his fringe players to impress, but they served only to make his team selection for Saturday's clash with Cheshunt that much easier.

After being hit for six on their own patch, Collier admitted his make-shift Marine were simply outclassed, and promised to restore his side to full strength for the weekend.

He said: "It was a low-key game played in front of about 60 people but that does not excuse our performance.

"For the players who have been sat in the stands for the last few weeks, this was their big chance to show me they should be starting.

"I wanted them to prove they should be playing, but that has not happened tonight which is disappointing.

"Clevedon are a good side but we certainly shouldn't be conceding six at home."

It took the visitors just seven minutes to breach the Marine defence, Mitchell Page calmly slotting past helpless goalkeeper Tom King.

Josh Brigham made it 2-0 after 23 minutes, before defensive partner Scott Hendy added a third with a glancing header from a free-kick.

Collier brought on Nathan Lightbody and Sean Wood, but it made little difference as Clevedon bossed the second half in the same manner they did the first.

Danny Haines and Kyle Bassett both got on the scoresheet to make it 5-0, before Christian Sylvester completed the rout with just four minutes remaining.

Cirencester Town also crashed out at the quarter-final stage after losing to Division One South & West side Didcot Town 4-3 on penalties.

Andy Williams gave Didcot an early lead but a Jamie Heapy own-goal and an Andy Chapman strike looked to have tipped the balance in Ciren's favour.

That was until Richard Pearson rescued the 2005 FA Vase winners with a dramatic 90th-minute equaliser.

Extra time finished goalless and Didcot held their nerve from the spot to join Clevedon, King's Lynn and Hillingdon Borough in the final four.
