DETERMINED Dave Webb pledged not to get too despondent after his Highworth Town side were crushed 4-0 by title-chasing North Leigh at the Elms.

Phil Corcoran hit the crossbar for the hosts and Gary Hill should have done better from Dan Hilder's teasing cross, but North Leigh were well worth the three points.

Instead of castigating his players, Webb challenged them to use the defeat as motivation ahead of next Wednesday's clash at Harrow Hill.

He said: "Obviously we are disappointed to lose by such a big margin, but we have to draw a line under this and move on.

"I still believe a top-six finish is a realistic aim for Highworth, so the sooner we put this result out of our minds the better.

"The problem is we have a whole week to stew on it because we don't play again until next Wednesday.

"Hopefully the lads will have learned something from tonight. You can't defend badly against the top sides and get away with it."

Shrivenham enjoyed another fruitful away day in the Hellenic Premier Division, beating Abingdon Town 1-0 at Culham Road.

After Saturday's 3-1 triumph at AFC Wallingford, Shrivvy continued their good form on the road with Dave Gee grabbing the only goal early in the second half.

Co-manager Pete Horwat has now set his players a minimum target of 53 points, one more than their tally for last season.

Horwat said: "You have to set yourself goals and we will be pushing the players to pick up as many points as possible between now and the end of the season.

"We have 39 at the moment, but there is still plenty to play for and setting targets should keep the boys on their toes."

Malmesbury Vics' Division One West clash with Trowbridge Town was postponed due to a frozen pitch.
