PREMIER Division leaders Wroughton take a break from league action this weekend when they visit Marlborough Town in the quarter-finals of the Corsham Print Senior Cup, writes RAY BURROUGHS.
When the sides met in the league a few weeks ago Wroughton got the winner in the 93rd minute to deny the Town a deserved point.
Adam Wainwright, the Marlborough boss, has had to step down due to work commitments with Swindon Town FC's marketing department and he has handed over to his father Paul who will be running things with Pete Russett.
"I'm still passionate about the club and I will help out whenever I can with training, but on Saturdays I will be busy at the County Ground," he said.
"I don't think our league position reflects on the way we've been playing, we have been a bit unlucky at times.
"The lads will be giving it a good go against Wroughton - we will be the underdogs but cup ties sometimes throw up funny results."
Wroughton, after their defeat at Purton last week, will be looking to bounce back with manager Mark Love saying he hopes last week's result was just a blip.
He added: "Marlborough gave us a scare a few weeks ago when we just managed to pip them with a very late goal. The lads will be aware that they could be in for a tough battle and will need to grind out a result.
"There are no panic changes, it will be the same squad as last week with the exception of keeper Curtis Sharkey who returns to the squad."
Purton Reserves attempt to stretch their unbeaten run when they entertain Aldbourne at the Red House.
Manager Dennis Carter was delighted with his squad last week after upsetting leaders Wroughton and will be looking for another good performance.
Aldbourne boss Stef Kuczynski will be looking to end a dismal run of defeats by his side.
He said: "We have turned in some useful performances, created chances but Lady Luck has not been on our side in recent weeks."
Westside travel to Shrewton and manager Mark Simpkins will be hoping his side doesn't give the opposition a three-goal start as they did at Devizes last week.
Malmesbury Vics are at home to Westbury United who drew level at the top of the table with Wroughton after last week's results.
In Division One, Minety - the only unbeaten side in the three divisions - take on Abbey Rodbourne who could provide stiff opposition with their top marksman Nathan Shepherd finding the net regularly in recent weeks.
Division Two leaders KC FC will be expecting a tough game against second-placed Intel while bottom club Minety Reserves travel to Chalke Valley.
