MARLBOROUGH Town booked their place in the semi-finals of the Corsham Print Senior Cup, beating Premier Division leaders Wroughton 4-2 despite being down to 10 men for the majority of the match.

Doug Imrie was the villain for the home side, sent off on 10 minutes for a deliberate handball on the goal line.

Wroughton's Lee Curtis netted from the penalty to put the visitors in control.

But 10-man Marlborough refused to give in, and skipper Pete Russett scored to send the sides in level at the break.

Two goals from Marlborough's Dean Hughes then put the home side 3-1 up before Barry Dickens pulled a goal back.

However, Mike Burns secured Marlborough's place in the last four, adding a fourth in the closing stages.

Adam Wainwright, who stepped down as boss in midweek but played in midfield against Wroughton, said: "It was a magical performance from the team, we all dug in when we were down to 10 men and we deserved our victory.

"We have been playing better than our league position suggests and today we proved it with a great all round performance."

It was the second successive defeat for the leaders and manager Mark Love blamed the defeat on missed chances, saying: "Fair play to Marlborough, they fought hard for most of the game with a player short and I have got to say deserved their victory. We haven't played that bad the last couple of weeks it seems teams raise their game when they play us."

Westside picked up another three points in their bid to keep in the top five with a 2-1 away win over Shrewton United.

The Swindon side took a first-half lead with a good strike from Jamie Williams but United fought back after the break to level with a well taken goal from Alan Blake.

With the game looking to be heading for a draw a defensive error proved costly for the home side, Ashley Channing taking advantage to score a late winner.

Purton's unbeaten run came to an end when they were beaten 3-0 at the Red House by Aldbourne, their first victory of the year .

Ashley Gooch was the Aldbourne hero scoring all three goals.

Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Calne missed out on a chance of going top when they were beaten 2-1 at Bromham, AFC Trowbridge Youth shared the points with Devizes in a 1-1 draw and Bradford beat Corsham 2-1.

Steve Shaw grabbed a hat-trick for Minety as they kept up their unbeaten tag with a 3-1 win over Abbey Rodbourne.

At the other end of the table, bottom club Lower Stratton found themselves four down before fighting back to snatch a point in the last half hour.

A hat-trick from Richard Clarke and one from Jamie Saunders cancelled out Westlecott's goals from Alan Povey (2), Nick Frost and Paul Morrell.

AFC Castrol took over second spot following their 5-1 win over AFC Rodbourne, Matt Chamberlain (3) Ben Snook and Gary Donnelly doing the damage.

Blyskawica had the edge over Pinehurst United beating them 3-0 while Castle Combe who beat Blunsdon United 5-2.

Intel moved to the top spot in Division Two after beating rivals KC FC 2-1 thanks to two first-half goals from Mark Cowan and Adam O'Bree. Neil Dix replied for the home side with 10 minutes to go.

Dynamo CDR accounted for Swindon Irons 3-0 with two goals from Adam Pape and one from Scot Walker while Chalke Valley beat Minety Reserves 4-0, with the goal coming from Simon Edwards (2), Tozzie Judd and an own goal.
