AMBITIOUS Gary Horgan insists reaching the Premier Division play-offs can be more than just a pipe dream for Swindon Supermarine, but admits securing their league status must remain the club's number one priority.
The dynamic midfielder, pictured, takes on his old club Mangotsfield United tomorrow looking to inspire a fourth successive league win - which could see Marine jump another two places in the table.
And with just four points between themselves and fifth placed Gloucester City, Horgan believes a late push for the play-offs is not out of the question.
He said: "I still think there could be something there for us in terms of making the play-offs, but maybe we have left it a little too late.
"We are still only a few points ahead of the teams at the bottom of the table, so we need to make sure we cement our place in this league before we think about anything else.
"We are in a healthy position at the moment and if we can keep this little run of wins going we should be looking up rather than down.
"We have played most of the top teams twice now so we certainly have nothing to fear."
Horgan revealed his early season switch from Cossham Street to Hunts Copse has felt like "a breath of fresh air," after turning down several other clubs to join Marine As he prepares to lock horns with his former Mangotsfield colleagues tomorrow, the 29-year-old is confident he made the right choice.
Horgan said: "I started at Supermarine when I was 15 so it was nice to get the opportunity to come back and play here.
"When it became obvious there was no future for me at Mangotsfield I had a few offers, but I was impressed with what Mark Collier and Ian Howell had to say.
"I have really enjoyed my football here so far, even if I do feel like the old man of the side.
"Supermarine like to get the ball down and play, which is something we didn't do much at Mangotsfield, and I'm really enjoying it."
It is this contrast in styles that could be on display tomorrow, with both sides desperate for a win for very different reasons.
Horgan admits he is surprised to see the Bristol side languishing near the foot of the table, and has warned his new teammates not to underestimate his old ones.
He said: "Their aim at the start of the year was to reach the play-offs, so they will be disappointed in their current position.
"But the league is so tight that we could easily swap places in a few matches.
"We just have to focus on our game and hope that is enough to take the three points."
