THERE were a number of significant results in the league programme at the weekend, writes STEVE ASHLEY.

In Division Five, Lamb Marlborough gained their first point of the season in the local derby with the Bear Marlborough in a 1-1 draw. Simon Head scored for Lamb.

In Division Four, a double by Terry Griffin helped Dennis Removals to beat former leaders Intermach Wheatsheaf 2-1 which allowed AA Drainaway to take over top spot after their 6-4 win at Rodbourne Arms.

Steve Winchcombe netted for Wheatsheaf and the Drainaway victory was down to hits from Matt Bissett with a hat-trick, Kieran Cronin, Graham Prictor and Neil Strange.

The Rodbourne replies came from Aiden Williams with a couple, Gareth Pearce and Lewis Polden.

Elsewhere in this division Abbey Scaffolding Dolphin won 3-0 at South Marston thanks to a Ben Taylor double and Charlie Walton.

In Division Eight, Wheatsheaf Stratton dropped valuable points when they suffered a 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Westbrook, whose scorers were John Smith, Joe Dorey, Junior Small and Dave Chivers.

Penhill Aces, who had a 6-2 home win against Patheon, jumped into top spot with Blaine Fitzgerald bagging another four, Dan Hiscocks and Kyle Romain also netting. Tony Cutting grabbed both of the Patheon goals.

Roughmoor Rangers joined Halcrow in joint third position after their 4-0 win at Swindon Snooker.

Halcrow slumped to a 2-0 home loss at the hands of CSA Sandgate whose scorers were Stan Smrcek and Lubomir Cizmar.

Aaron Dunn hit the winner for Ventrolla for a 4-3 win at Red Lion Wootton Bassett. Other scorers for Ventrolla, who were 3-2 down, were Barry Young, Alex Ramsay and Sam Willis while Tom Saunders, Paul Watts and Shaun McCombie replied.

Colin Holness and Joe Kohn scored the Mercedes Benz goals in their 3-2 home defeat by Swindon Macs.

In Division One, Tony Joyce struck the winning goal for Greyhound who beat AFC Gas 3-2. The Greyhound, who had a goalkeeper shortage and had to put an outfield player between the sticks, took the lead through James Mortimer-Jones. Tom Cole also netted, as did Rich Carter and Gary Ashford for the Gas.

Darren Cummings scored both the Juventus JM goals in a 2-2 draw against Haydon Wick WMC.

Sunday Merlin and Wroughton WMC drew 1-1 with Paul Venables equalising for Merlin.

Duckhams continue to chip away at leaders GW Nalgo in Division Two after their 3-1 home victory against Pewsey Saints. Matt Horsell, James Bradfield and Neil Edwards scored.

Windmill and RJK Ferndale drew 2-2 with Terry Dearing and Dean Mason netting for Windmill.

Colin Yates with a double and Martin Yates both scored for Greenbridge MOT in their 9-3 home loss against Coleshill.

Mallard Lyneham from Division Three came from behind to win 2-1 at Castrol through efforts from Craig Wilkinson and Wes Christian. Craig Graham had earlier given the home side the lead.

Lava Lounge had an excellent 2-1 win at AFC Cricklade through James Miles and Dave Ford to go third. Mark Giles scored for Cricklade.

Dynamo Ashton and Wanborough met again for the second time in a week and shared the points drawing 3-3. Lee Hedges with a brace and Martin Curtis netted for Ashton and the Wanborough net men were Mark Brimson, Shaun Noakes and keeper Richard Payne with a last- minute equaliser.

New Century WMC go third in Division Five after hammering Pennoes 17-0. On the target in the goal feast were Lee Stoddard with six, Ady Roper (4), Darren McCluskey (3), Adam Whitefield a double, Jack Baverstock and Ryan Whitefield.

Eldene Social Club won 2-1 at Inter Sandgate thanks to Jamie Newton and a Marc Connolly penalty to stay second. Dan Wootton replied for Sandgate.

Nationwide beat Fox & Hounds 4-1 with Mike Hinde scoring twice plus Dave Vann and Gareth Parry adding others.

Division Six leaders Dorcan Old Boys demolished AFC Royston 10-1 with Phil Corcoran (4), Gary Matthews (2), James Sutton, Dan Godwin, Dave Devine and Graeme Little scoring.

Ben Cowley netted both of the Smart Movers goals in their 3-2 loss at White Hart Stratton.

Pinehurst Community won 2-1 at Cats Solutions with the last kick of the match. Andrew Walshe and Joe Fitchett were on the spot for Pinehurst and Ryan Keech scored for Cats with a penalty.

Regent continue to pave the way at the top of Division Seven by recording a 8-0 win at AFC Sandgate. Darren Coleman with a couple, Kieran Jennings, Paul Newman, Mike Kinsella and Adam Webb (3) scored.

West Swindon Wanderers won 7-0 at Stratton St Margaret which came from Jason Pickett and Lee Giles with doubles and Mark Wells a hat-trick.

Carters Rest won 8-4 at Thamesdown AFC thanks to Adam Leighfield with four, a Jason Hodson hat-trick and James Reid.

Walcots Finest, who have five games in hand on the top two, beat Famous Ale House 3-1 with goals from John Shoesmith (2) and Steve Cue. Dan Bond replied.
