PURTON boss Chris Pethick is adamant his team won't become Cirencester United's third victim of the season - even more so following last weekend's horror show.

Pethick, pictured right, could only watch in shock as Purton capitulated to a 7-1 defeat at the hands of Winterbourne United last time round.

On paper it looks as though tomorrow's fixture is the perfect bounce back for Purton, with Ciren having only picked up two wins and seven points all season.

But Pethick is warning against taking their opponents too lightly.

Pethick said: "It was an awful performance and one that is best forgotten.

"It was a one-off and something like that will never happen again under me.

"Cirencester are struggling but are looking to pick up points where they can.

"I don't want to be the third team they beat and I'll be telling the players that."

Purton are without Paul Blagdon and Callum Hall, who are both away, which means Pethick is unable to give the same squad the chance to make amends for last Saturday.

He said: "It would have been nice to put the same team out so they could have put things right, but unfortunately that's not possible."

With three wins and a draw from their last four games, Malmesbury Victoria are starting to put some distance between themselves and the danger zone.

However, Kenny Regan and Lee Marshall's side face arguably their toughest test tomorrow as they entertain Old Woodstock Town.

With a 1-0 victory over Winterbourne United still fresh in the mind, Malmesbury should not be underestimated.

After an impressive victory against Oxford City Nomads in midweek, Wootton Bassett will be hoping to follow it up with all three points at home against Launton Sports.

Elsewhere, Cricklade Town travel to Cheltenham Saracens.
