SWINDON Town have signed teenage goalkeeper Conor Brann on a permanent deal, the club has confirmed.

Brann has likely been brought in as a third-choice stopper and one for the future, but with Lewis Ward appearing to be on his way to Sutton United, the young stopper could well find himself on the Town bench in the near future.

Brann's arrival makes it three players signed on deadline day, following on from Marcel Lavinier and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy earlier on Thursday.

The 18-year-old was a free agent after being released from the League of Ireland First Division outfit, Galway United in the summer.

The stopper played schoolboy football with his local side Salthill Devon before heading to the Athlone Town academy at 14 where he appeared for their Under-15s in 2018.

He then made the switch to Limerick to play U17s football before heading to Galway as the club's Under-19 keeper, where he made his mark with some impressive displays.

This led to call-ups to the Republic of Ireland national youth set-up to train with the U19s in several UK-based training camps.

Commenting on the deal, Town's head coach Scott Lindsey, said: “He’s a quality keeper and we have really high hopes for him, so it’s great he’s now part of our squad.

“He’s a gifted lad with a great attitude. He trains well and has huge potential, and I believe we can play a huge part in his development moving forward.”

Meanwhile, technical director, Sandro Di Michele, said: “Conor is a young goalkeeper with a lot of talent and is an exciting one for the future.

“He has huge potential and I’m looking forward to seeing him grow here at the football club.”
