SWINDON Town have confirmed the date the club will return to action following this weekend's round of postponements.

Scott Lindsey's men were due to host Newport County on Saturday, September 10, but that match was called off by the English Football League as a mark of respect following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.

With a period of national mourning ahead, it had been thought that there would be no professional sport taking place for around a week.

But Swindon have confirmed the Premier League and English Football League plan to return at the start of next week.

Therefore, Town's League Two clash with Sutton United at the County Ground on Tuesday should go ahead as planned, the Wiltshire club has said.

In a brief statement on Town's website, the club said: "Games will recommence on Tuesday, 13 September, which means our scheduled League Two clash with Sutton United at The County Ground - kick off 7.45pm - will still go ahead as planned unless we are advised otherwise."

Swindon also stated that anyone with a ticket for Saturday's postponed game against Newport would be able to use these for the re-arranged fixture once a new date has been confirmed, and the club would release further details surrounding refunds once they have them.
