SWINDON Town head coach Scott Lindsey has confirmed the club is on the hunt for another goalkeeper in the free-agent market and already has “a few irons in the fire” as things stand.

Town currently have 20-year-old Middlesbrough loanee Sol Brynn – who has performed admirably since arriving and picked up the opening player-of-the-month award – and 19-year-old Conor Brann as their options in goal.

But with Brann – who was signed on deadline day after a spell at Galway United in Ireland – having limited experience in senior football, Lindsey stated Swindon will be aiming to bolster their ranks with a gloveman who has a touch more experience under his belt.

Discussing the goalkeeper situation on Thursday, Lindsey said: “Conor is a really good prospect, and he’s somebody that we will develop, but it will take time for him to be ready for first-team action.

“At the moment, he is on the bench for us, but I think we are looking for a free agent goalkeeper.

“We have got a few irons in the fire at the moment, but it’s an ongoing process so it will take a bit of time.”

Town were due to be in action on Saturday at home to Newport County in League Two, but all football matches in the United Kingdom were postponed as a mark of respect after the death of Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.
