SWINDON Town youngsters Harrison Minturn and Oscar Massey have both been sent out on short-term loans.
Minturn will join National League North side Gloucester City on a one-month loan deal while Massey will spend the same amount of time down the M4 with National League South outfit Hungerford Town.
The pair of 18-year-olds have only made a handful of appearances for Swindon this season.
Massey experienced his solitary outing in the League Cup first-round defeat to Walsall last month, coming on for the final 15 minutes as a substitute.
Meanwhile, Minturn started the Walsall game but ended up being sent off late on. The centre-back then featured in midfield against Crystal Palace Under-21s in the EFL Trophy.
Discussing the pair of loan moves in his pre-Sutton United press conference on Monday, head coach Scott Lindsey said: “It’s important that they get game time, especially as the EFL Trophy doesn’t come around every week.
“If it did, it’d be ideal. So it’s important that they get out and play some men’s football.
“Both moves are fantastic for both players. The north division is a bit different for Harrison because he’ll have to get on the bus and go for longer journeys – that’s all part of the learning.
“They’re in three mornings a week, and then he’ll come and train with us as well, so we’ll keep a good eye on him.
“Oscar is a bit different because he’ll train Monday and Tuesday nights with Hungerford and then he’ll train with us the rest of the time.
“We want to see them often; we don’t want to send them out on loan and forget about them.
“We want to see them progress, and when there is an opportunity for me or one of the staff to go out and see them play we will do that.”
Defender Minturn came through the youth system at Swindon and made his senior debut in a 1-0 victory over Newport County in the EFL Trophy group stage last November.
With first-team opportunities proving hard to come by as Town made an assault on the League Two play-offs last term, Minturn enjoyed a fine spell at Chippenham Town and proved to be a key addition to the Bluebirds late in the season.
Massey, meanwhile, joined Town from Plymouth Argyle in the summer having caught the eye of the club's recruitment staff and is set for his first senior loan.
In a statement from Swindon announcing the loan moves, Scott Lindsey's men said: "We wish them both all the very best over the coming weeks and look forward to monitoring their progress."
