Lindsey made It clear the importance of having players on the bench who can make a difference for his side during a game.
“I don’t like to call them substitutes, I like to call them game changers” The Town head coach told the media.
“We’ve got players who could be on the bench and come on and change the game, which is invaluable.”
With his side boasting a number of forward-thinking options from the attack and midfield after a busy summer window, Lindsey stressed the importance of not only having depth, but a variety in what to offer in an opponents half.
One example which was brought forward was the comparison between Ronan Darcy and Saidou Khan, two different styles of midfielders yet can both impact a game positively going forward.
“You look at Khan who has been labelled as more of a defensive midfielder, however, you look at his goalscoring record last season and how he can make things happen high up the pitch.”
Khan netted six goals for Chesterfield FC in the National League last season before joining Town in July.
“And then someone than Darcy, who makes great runs off the ball and constantly opens gaps up.
“They are two very different players but both an attacking threat for us.”
Tuesday’s victory against Sutton marked 10 games in charge since his leap from assistant manager to head coach.
Despite it being a hectic first few months in charge, Lindsey says he has enjoyed making the switch.
“It’s been hard work and stressful at times as you can imagine, but as a whole it’s been I’ve really enjoyed it.”
The Town head coach admitted that he had somewhat expected what was to come when taking the role back in June.
“I’ve been in the game a long time and worked closely with managers, I’ve done everything but actually be the manager really, so with that I knew what was to be expected when taking the job.”
Swindon travel to the Eco-Power Stadium on Saturday to face Doncaster in Sky Bet League Two. Kick Off is at 3pm.
