BEN Gladwin says Swindon Town's ability to be versatile in attack is key for success this season.
The midfielder played an important role in Saturday's 1-0 away win over Doncaster Rovers, assisting Jacob Wakeling with a intelligent ball across the box which broke the deadlock on the hour mark.
Despite it being a controlled performance with his side seeing most of the ball, throughout the match Gladwin was always on the lookout for the quick over the top ball to Wakeling.
With the goalscorers rapid pace sure to cause danger for any side's backline this campaign, Gladwin stressed the importance of not relying on just one method of scoring when trying to break down teams.
"We want to build slower and be more patient, but if we have a chance to get them in on one pass we will try and do it," he said.
"He [Wakeling] can run and run with his pace, and puts a lot of pressure on centre halves when they're facing their own goal, the easiest route to goal is one long pass and if it works then thats what we're going to do."
It's now two goals in two games for Wakeling, and Gladwin says its been a pleasure so far playing with the forward.
"Jacob [Wakeling] will be huge for us this season," said the Town midfielder.
"He's been brilliant, everything he touches seems to go in the back of the net so I just crossed the ball to him and let him do the rest."
It's now back-to-back wins for Swindon, with Saturday also seeing the side's first away victory of the season.
Gladwin believes the momentum building within the dressing room will help what is a rather young group of players.
"The momentum is massive, its a young group so they need that reassurance," he said.
"As you get a bit older you you look at performance a bit more but as a younger player winning games is for sure the easiest measure of how you are doing."
Town face Plymouth Argyle in the Papa Johns Trophy on Tuesday and travel to Grimsby Town in the league on Saturday.
Swindon's vice captain added: "This season is going to be a team effort, theres going to be injuries along the way so we all need to be raring to go."
