SWINDON Town head coach Scott Lindsey suggested there could be a touch more pressure on Grimsby Town when the pair face off on Saturday due to the Mariners having failed to win at home in League Two so far.

Paul Hirst’s men have claimed victory at Blundell Park in both the League Cup and EFL Trophy, but all three home fixtures in League Two have ended in a draw.

The Mariners are also in a similar situation to Swindon in that they have only lost once – on the opening day – and have claimed 11 points from their past five games.

In a meeting between two teams which appear to be very evenly matched on paper, Lindsey hopes his own team’s care-free attitude may pay dividends against a potentially tense Grimsby.

Analysing Saturday’s opponents, the Swindon boss said: “I think they lost their first game to Leyton Orient, and then they’ve gone on a bit of a roll as well – a lot of draws though.

“I don’t think they’ve won at home in the league yet, so there’s a little bit of pressure on them possibly.

“But they’ve got a very good, very experienced manager in Paul Hurst. I like him a lot, his sides are always hard to play against.

“He’s got a good sprinkling of youth and experience within the team with the likes of Ryan Taylor at the top of the pitch and Luke Waterfall at the back.

“And he’s signed a couple of good loan players too, so they’re a good side.”

Grimsby and Swindon have drawn eight games between them so far, and a point apiece appears to be the early favourite result with the bookmakers.

But Lindsey says he will be instructing his players to make a particularly fast start to set the tone for a dominant away display which ideally results in three points.

Lindsey said: “We play in different styles, so that’s a difference straight away. And I’m hopeful that we get a good start.

“But they don’t concede a lot, mind. I think they’ve only conceded five goals in the league so far, so they will be tough to break down, but I’m hopeful we can start well and get an early goal.

“That is an important factor every week, to be fair, no matter who we’re playing. The way the game pans out is usually based on how we start the game, so it is important for us to begin well.”
