SWINDON Town Supporters Club discuss a couple of initiatives the group have been proud to champion over recent weeks.

While Tyrese Shade’s goal against Colchester United may not a goal of the season contender, it did feel great to see the ball nestle into the back of the net on Saturday.

It was one of those games where it felt like Colchester’s doggedness and time-wasting was going to end up with points shared, so to bag all three points was a great way to start the weekend.

The magic of the FA Cup starts again in a couple of weeks with an away tie at Stockport County. Having played the Hatters already this season in a game we should probably have won, most feel the latest edition is a game Swindon can certainly win. Should we do it, we’ll be one match closer to the excitement of the third round, and we all know what happened last season!

In the close season we were contacted by Purton Youth FC. They were setting up the club’s first girls football team and were looking for kit sponsorship. We were delighted to get involved and join the ever-growing momentum that is women’s football in England.

We have previously supported Swindon Town Women and saw this a great opportunity to help a local team. We think the team look magnificent in their new kit and wish them all the best for the season ahead!

One initiative the OSC are trying to start now is Fan Group hubs. We are progressing this in a couple of areas – the idea is to set up hubs for our ‘out of town’ supporters.

A volunteer co-ordinator would act as a point of contact and would also help set up local social events and fans forums. This could include fans who are no longer able or can afford to travel to games, for example by providing car sharing to matches.

We have already organised a co-ordinator for the Pewsey, Marlborough and Devizes area - Paul Clark. Members in this area will be hearing from Paul shortly. If anyone would like to act as a volunteer co-ordinator for another area, please get in touch via email at admin@stfc-osc.com or if you would like any further information.

Onto Hartlepool United at home then and what looks on paper like another three points. Make sure you bring the noise and get behind the boys!

Also, make sure you stay behind after to support Swindon Town Women when they take on Paulton Rovers in the first double header at the County Ground for decades!

Come on you Reds!
