SWINDON Town head coach Scott Lindsey admitted he is “concerned” after revealing another of his defenders would be missing time due to injury.

Club captain Angus MacDonald is midway through a rehabilitation period following a dislocated collarbone sustained against Northampton Town in early October.

And now fellow centre-back Tom Clayton has been side-lined after being forced off after 20 minutes against Mansfield Town last weekend with a thigh issue.

Following Swindon’s 4-0 defeat away to Stockport County in the FA Cup first round on Saturday, Lindsey revealed the extent of the damage.

The Town boss said: “Tom Clayton has got a grade two tear in his thigh, so he’ll be out for probably four weeks. It’s concern now because Angus MacDonald is out as well as Tom Clayton.

“We’re concerned as we’re down to three centre-halves now, so we’ll just have to assess what we’ve got and look at what we’re going to do next Saturday against Tranmere.”

Swindon Advertiser:

Moments before Lindsey shared the bad news on Clayton, back-up goalkeeper Conor Brann was seen crying out in agony following an incident during the post-match warm-down at Stockport.

The 19-year-old appeared to have injured his left knee and was subsequently carried off on a stretcher by the medical staff of both clubs.

Lindsey was still in the changing room when the incident occurred so was unable to shed any light on the injury.

He said: “I’ve got no idea what’s happened there. Just before we started the interview, I looked over to my right and saw a bit of a commotion going on. I’ve got no idea what’s gone on.”
