SWINDON Town loanees Harrison Minturn and Harry Parsons, plus former Robins players Will Henry and Jordan Young, will take on League One Burton Albion in the FA Cup second round later this month.
The quartet are all currently plying their trade with Chippenham Town in National League South and will hope to provide another cup upset when taking on the Brewers over the weekend of November 26-27.
Gary Horgan’s Bluebirds had only reached the first round proper three times in the club’s history before this season, but it turned out to be fourth time lucky as Chippenham saw off League One Lincoln City by a goal to nil on Saturday.
Joe Hanks’ sensational back-heeled finish just before half-time was the difference on the day, in a game where the Imps struck the bar and also saw a late equaliser controversially ruled out for a foul in the build-up.
Minturn, Parsons, and Henry all played a significant part in the historic victory, while in-form Young watched on from the bench. Minturn and Henry featured for the whole 90 minutes, while Parsons managed a little over 60 before being replaced as the Bluebirds looked to see the game out.
Goalkeeper Henry has enjoyed several spells with the Bluebirds before his most recent debut for the club in the summer of 2021. Young, on the other hand, signed for Coventry City after leaving Swindon and subsequently enjoyed spells with Highworth Town and Gloucester City prior to arriving at Chippenham.
Centre-back Minturn agreed a youth loan with the Thornbury Surfacing Stadium outfit until the end of January in mid-October. Meanwhile, Parsons will spend a similar amount of time at Chippenham as part of a professional loan deal.
Discussing the prospects of the two talented youngsters after Swindon’s 4-0 defeat to Stockport County on Saturday, head coach Scott Lindsey revealed why the club chose not to prevent the pair playing for their new club.
He said: “It’s brilliant to hear they won. We spoke about Harrison and Harry getting minutes, the importance of it.
“It’s a good loan for both of them because they’re local, so we can closely keep our eyes on them.
“We spoke about whether we wanted them to be cup-tied or not, but we thought that it was such a big game for them to play in, we felt it would only be beneficial for their development to play in that game.
“So I’m really pleased that they’ve both played and obviously gone through.”
