SWINDON Town Official Supporters Club wishes Jonny Williams well ahead of his World Cup adventure while sharing some news about a couple of recently-launched initiatives.
It wasn’t quite back to winning ways against Tranmere Rovers last weekend, but the team’s performance certainly improved as the game progressed and the final minutes in injury time almost brought what would have been a deserved winner.
It was our first match without Jonny Williams since the mercurial midfielder has now jetted off to Qatar with the Welsh squad. We all wish Jonny well and we hope he gets the chance to show the world his talent on the pitch - although maybe not on November 29 when Wales play England!
This week we held our first Monday Night Panel - On the Road event. It took place on Monday at Marlborough Town Football Club and was streamed live.
We had some great discussion with the panel and there was even a social event afterwards. It was organised by one of our new Fan Group hubs which has been established in the Pewsey, Marlborough and Devizes area. We hope to expand the concept of these hubs across the region – watch this space!
We also used Monday night’s event to formally launch another new group affiliated to the OSC - the HM Armed Forces and Veterans group. We’ve since had a lot of interest from serving and retired members of the Armed Forces which is great to see.
For anyone who was at the Tranmere match, the club showed great respect to our fallen heroes with an impeccable minute’s silence before kick-off.
Rob Angus also signed the Armed Forces Covenant before the game – with the club pledging to work alongside and support those who proudly protect our nation both locally and nationally. It’s great to be involved in such a worthwhile initiative.
Finally, we have another affiliated group that is going to launch soon as well – more on this to follow on our social media channels over the next couple of weeks.
Hopefully it will be back to winning ways against Crewe on Saturday. It was brilliant to see a gate of over 9,400 against Tranmere – so get your ticket for Crewe and let’s pack out the County Ground again!
Come on you Reds!
