SWINDON Town defender Remeao Hutton believes he is in the form of his fledgling career right now.

The 24-year-old has grown in confidence since arriving in Wiltshire during the summer, notching two assists in 18 games while regularly impressing fans with his desire to reach the by-line and whip crosses in for the strikers.

Evidence of that was in effect on Saturday against Tranmere Rovers as Hutton crossed low for Jacob Wakeling to bundle in at the far post and make it 1-1.

Head coach Scott Lindsey recently told Adver Sport he thought the young defender had been “outstanding” of late, after narrowly missing out to Jonny Williams in the club’s player of the month vote.

Asked if he’s ever felt in better form in his career, Hutton’s reply was short and sweet. He said: “No.

“I feel like, coming in here, it’s a different way of playing to what I’m used to. What I was used to was long ball, but I feel like I’ve got different strings to my bow now.

“I can come inside, play one-twos, get in behind and not always receive it to feet. If you’ve got all of them then you feel like no one can stop you.

“If they stop one aspect then you can adapt and do something else that you’re comfortable with. I’ve been enjoying it this season.”

In Town’s 1-1 draw with Tranmere Rovers on Saturday, a heat map showing Hutton’s areas of activity reflected just how important the wing-back is to Swindon’s attacking game.

Swindon Advertiser:

His two most common zones were just over the half-way line, and around 30 yards from the by-line, by the corner of the box.

Hutton suggested that Town’s overall style brings the best out of him and has allowed him to impress the Swindon faithful so far this term.

He said: “When I played against Swindon last season, it was like they were playing with 12 men on the field because of the time and space they had.

“We were chasing the ball so much, and I wanted to be in this team that keeps the ball and tires the opposition out.

“We’re constantly attacking, and we don’t really defend that much I don’t think because we keep the ball so much and so well.

“It’s a more attacking game here, and that’s my game, so I feel like I’m only going to get better and stand out more the more we do it.”
