SWINDON Town loanee Frazer Blake-Tracy says it is “50-50” whether he will be recalled to parent club Burton Albion in January.
Blake-Tracy signed a season-long loan deal at the County Ground in the summer after becoming surplus to requirements at the Pirelli Stadium under Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
With just a year left on his Brewers contract, the situation seemed to suggest that Blake-Tracy would use this season to put himself in the shop window before heading to pastures new in the summer of 2023.
But after a strong spell under Scott Lindsey in Wiltshire, Swindon fans have become increasingly concerned that Burton may recall Blake-Tracy in order to sell him elsewhere in January.
Asked if he knew what his future may hold, Blake-Tracy was refreshingly honest. He said: “I’ve always said that I want to play as high as possible, and I definitely want to play League One football again.
“I spoke to Burton and, honestly, it’s 50-50 whether they’re going to take me back or not.
“I think Burton have got a lot of stuff going on behind closed doors that they didn’t really tell me too much about. But if it means staying here to play football with a chance to get promoted then absolutely, I’ll take it.
“I’ll just have to see in January what happens and how badly a team wants me. If [Burton] want me back, it will be whoever shows the most interest in me in terms of where I go.”
The 27-year-old stated he would be keen to stay in Wiltshire for the remainder of the season or return under permanent terms should Albion exercise their recall clause.
Blake-Tracy also claimed he does not foresee himself pulling on a yellow shirt ever again.
He continued: “When they sent me here, it was under [Jimmy Floyd] Hasselbaink. It’s now a different man in charge.
“Honestly, I don’t see myself playing for Burton again – I just don’t. But I have a contract there, so if they bring me back and tell me I have to play then I have to be a professional and do it.
“It’s all up in the air, whether I go back or not. Before they sent me here, I don’t think Burton ever thought they’d get any money for me. Now, if they bring me back, they may be thinking: “Do you know what? Someone might take him for a few pennies.”
“I honestly don’t know what they’re thinking – I’m 50-50 on whether I’m going back or not. Would I come back here? Absolutely.”
