SCOTT Lindsey says he is still is loving life in the Swindon Town hotseat almost six months on from taking the reins at the County Ground.
Lindsey succeeded Ben Garner in June, having been the assistant coach under the current Charlton Athletic boss for last season's League Two play-off campaign.
And he has the team sitting in the top seven again as they prepare to return to action at Crawley Town on Saturday afternoon.
“I really enjoy the job and I enjoy being out on the grass with the players, organising the team and preparing them for the next game,” revealed Lindsey.
“I enjoy watching us back when we play well and I have enjoyed match days when we have done well and won!”
After that light-hearted admission, the manager was serious when he noted the other important aspects of such a role at a football club.
“Obviously that all comes with being to cope with losing and not playing so well which is always hard,” said the 50-year-old.
“It has been a very positive few months and in the whole I’m relatively pleased.”
Lindsey’s focus was very much on Town’s upcoming game against Crawley, which is the Robins' first match in two weeks following their disappointing 1-0 loss against Crewe Alexandra.
“I feel like we need to keep creating chances, but we need to put these chances away,” he said.
Crawley have become a bogey team for Town in the last decade with only one win for the Robins since 2013, but Lindsey believes records such as these do not have a bearing on the present game.
“I think every season is different and I don’t really look at that because we have played teams this season who we haven’t done well against historically but gone and won,” he said.
This mentality was reflected by Lindsey’s players too with Tom Clayton also commenting on Swindon’s form ahead of Saturday’s match.
“Everyone is excited to get back on the pitch as I think the group was itching to get back out there and put the wrongs right,” revealed the former Liverpool defender.
“I think we have dominated most games, so we need to do what we have been doing but probably have a bit more of a cutting edge int the final third, making a few more clear-cut chances.”
Kick-off in the League Two encounter at the Broadfield Stadium is at 3pm.
