SWINDON Town head coach Scott Lindsey confirmed midfielder Saidou Khan was taken to hospital with an apparent head injury following his side’s 2-0 defeat to Crawley Town on Saturday.
After late goals from Nick Tsaroulla and Jack Powell put the Red Devils on course for three points in new manager, Matt Etherington’s first game in charge, Khan challenged for an aerial ball but quickly hit the floor as a result of an accidental collision.
The Gambian stayed down for almost 15 minutes as he was treated and was eventually carried off on a stretcher before being taken to a nearby hospital.
Immediately after the full-time whistle, Swindon’s head coach was unable to shed much more light on the Gambian’s status.
Lindsey said: “I don’t really know too much at this stage, but he’s obviously not too well.
“He got a real bad knee to the head from the goalkeeper, I believe. I don’t really know how he is, but he’s obviously gone to hospital, so he’s in a bad way.
“We wanted to try and get him to hospital as quickly as we can so we can assess him, but it’s a bad one by the sounds of it.”

Switching his attention to a blunt performance by his attacking players, Lindsey lamented Swindon in a game where the visitors failed to force Ellery Balcombe into a single save throughout.
The head coach admitted he felt Swindon should have been out of sight before Tsaroulla’s 79th-minute strike turned the day in Crawley’s favour.
Lindsey said: “We just didn’t have any guile or know-how at the top end of the pitch.
“We didn’t create anything, and we were really disappointed with that because it’s something that we’ve worked really hard on.
“The longer the game went on at 0-0, you felt it became more open. We wanted to put the game to bed and we didn’t, so that’s disappointing.
“We’re in a bad period at the moment, I think that’s the first time we’ve lost back-to-back games, so we’re disappointed with that. But we’ll be working extremely hard to put it right.”
