SWINDON Town's upcoming League Two fixture against AFC Wimbledon could be brought forward after a request was made by the London club.

The Robins are due to host Wimbledon on Saturday, December 10 at the County Ground at 3pm, but Johnnie Jackson's men have asked that the kick-off time be brought forward to avoid a clash with England's World Cup quarter-final against France on the same evening.

The Three Lions booked their spot in the last eight on Sunday night courtesy of a 3-0 victory over Senegal at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane, and Bukayo Saka netted England's goals to set up a mouth-watering tie with the current world champions on Saturday at 7pm.

Because of the travel time back to south-west London, Wimbledon have asked Town and the EFL that the game be brought forward by a couple of hours in order to allow the visiting fans to make it safely back to the capital in time for the England game.

In a tweet posted on Sunday night, minutes after England had successfully secured their passage through, the Dons said: "We've put in a request to the EFL and hosts @Official_STFC [Swindon Town] for an earlier kick-off time on Saturday, to allow time for Dons to travel back in time for England's World Cup quarter-final."

A final decision is expected to be made on Monday or Tuesday in order to give both sets of fans sufficient time to adjust their travel plans.
