SWINDON Town's League Two fixture against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday will kick off at 3pm as originally stated after a request to bring the match forward was withdrawn.
Minutes after England's men had booked their spot in the World Cup quarter-finals courtesy of a 3-0 victory against Senegal on Sunday night, setting up a tie with France at 7pm on Saturday, Wimbledon tweeted to confirm they would be asking the EFL and their upcoming opponents to begin this weekend's League Two game slightly earlier than previously planned.
The reaction to the request - from Swindon fans at least - was one of disapproval and objection, with many saying the timing of the potential decision left insufficient room for manoeuvre.
Late on Monday morning, the London club tweeted to confirm they had reversed their call to have the kick-off moved.
Wimbledon said: "Discussions have taken place within the club and it has been deemed that requesting to move the kick-off time for Swindon may be detrimental to fans who have already bought tickets and made travel arrangements. The kick-off time will remain at 3pm."
Swindon, who will be aiming to respond to consecutive defeats against Crewe Alexandra and Crawley Town, are expected to welcome Welsh international Jonny Williams back into their squad following his time away in Qatar.
