IN SWINDON Town Supporters Trust's final column before Christmas, the group reflects on a successful end to the year off the pitch and highlights a couple of key questions Swindon Town have answered recently.
We kicked off the festive season on Monday night this week, as board members of TrustSTFC and the Official Supporters Club got together for some food and drinks at Fratello’s in Swindon.
By my recollection, this is the first time such a Christmas event has taken place between the two supporter groups, and those in attendance had a great evening. It's testament to the work everyone behind the scenes has done over the last couple of years to align and work together. We’re hoping to plan more regular get-togethers in 2023.
On Wednesday, we attended the December Advisory Board meeting, the final of the calendar year. As ever, it's great to engage directly with the club and wider stakeholders to get a clear picture of progress off the pitch, and have that time with the senior leadership at the club.
There were a number of member questions shared with us ahead of this week’s Advisory Board meeting, and we have obtained answers to those which will be included in the December minutes.
One question was about the short timeframes from announcement to availability of away tickets, and the club will be looking into that. The club aren’t presently filling away-day allocations, so there should be plenty of opportunity to acquire a ticket for some of the upcoming fixtures.
The second question was requesting an update on alcohol sales within the Town End. The club previously ran a trial, but this was not deemed a viable commercial option. However, if fans would like the club to relook at this offering, they’d be happy to do so if there was enough demand. If you have any thoughts or comments on this, please do drop us an email.
We welcome AFC Wimbledon to the County Ground this weekend, and the club are dubbing it the ‘Christmas Jumper Game’ - our last home fixture before Christmas. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone dressed in their festive outfits!
The weekend after, we’re away to Barrow AFC. Safe travels to anyone making the 500-mile round trip to support the team, and here’s to hoping we can return with three points!
