SWINDON Town head coach Scott Lindsey felt his side looked “a bit bruised” during their 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon in League Two on Saturday.

Lindsey’s men failed to score for the fourth time in their past five games and created very few clear chances in a bit to improve that run, but the Town boss felt his side should have been awarded a stoppage-time penalty for a foul on Morgan Roberts.

Prior to that moment, the home team tested Dons ‘keeper Nik Tzanev just once from 12 attempts.

After the game, Lindsey admitted his team’s recent form may have had an effect on the overall performance.

He said: “We looked like a team who have lost the last two; I think we looked a bit bruised and a little low in confidence to go and win the game.

“We’ve got a number of injuries, which didn’t help, but we felt that we put a team out on the pitch which was capable of winning the game.”

Swindon appeared to be robbed of a potentially game-winning moment when referee Sam Allison adjudged Roberts’ tumble in the box to be a foul in the opposite direction.

Revealing the extraordinary chat the Town boss had with Allison about the incident post-match, Lindsey said: “I thought we should have had a stonewall penalty towards the end.

“I’ve just been in to see the referee. He said: “Jonny Williams fouled the defender.” So when he said that, I said: “Well, the fact that you don’t even know what player it was says to me that you’ve not seen what I’ve seen because it wasn’t even Jonny Williams, it was Morgan Roberts.”

“He said: “Oh yeah, it was the one with the blonde hair.” Well, Jonny doesn’t have any hair! So I had a bit of a confusing conversation with him.

“I thought he got a few things wrong today, but the most disappointing one was the one at the end.”
