SWINDON Town head coach Scott Lindsey is pleased with the club’s change in goal-scoring fortunes in recent matches.
The Robins were on a goalless run until recently when the League Two outfit scored in each of their last four games.
Two of the matches resulted in wins and the latest was a victory over Northampton Town.
“It’s a positive step forward, but I’d still like to add to it in terms of goals as I’d still like us to score more," he said.
“There hasn’t been that many games where we’ve won by more than one goal, or even scored in some games, so it's important that we keep moving forward in terms of that.”
Swindon have landed themselves in the play-off positions thanks to this recent resurgence, now finding themselves fifth in League Two.
Their upcoming opponents, Colchester United, sit 22nd in the table and have only managed to win two of their previous 12 games.
Despite apparently being one of the league’s weaker sides this year, Lindsey is hesitant to rule them out ahead of the New Year's Day clash.
“Every game is hard at this level and there are no easy games, every game is a challenge,” he said.
“The teams who are down at the bottom end of the table are scrapping and fighting for every single point, so I fully expect this game to be one where we’ve got to be at our best.”
Lindsey was appointed as head coach in the summer following the departure of Ben Garner, who left for League One Charlton Athletic.
The head coach, who was previously one of Garner’s assistant coaches at the club, has been enjoying his first season in charge and took the time to reflect on it with the start of a new year beckoning.
“I try and do my job as best as I can and I try and touch base with everybody around the club,” he said.
“I know that everyone is important to me, whether that be the tea lady or the captain. People make football clubs and I think that I try and have a relationship with everyone, and a good one.”
Tomorrow's match is set to kick off at 3pm at the Colchester Community Stadium.
