SWINDON Town forward Jonny Williams looks set to remain in Wiltshire until at least the end of the season after the club reportedly rejected a second bid from Scottish Premiership side, Hibernian on deadline day.
An opening five-figure offer was quickly dismissed by the club, reports state, before the Edinburgh outfit went back in late on Tuesday night with an improved figure.
Lee Johnson's men had been attempting to secure a late deal for the Welsh international in a bid to bolster the Edinburgh side's attacking options, but Swindon's unrelenting desire to keep their man as well as the appointment of Jody Morris as head coach has killed any hopes of a move.
Morris is thought to be keen to hold onto many of his more experienced players as Town look to step up their assault on promotion this term.
Williams is out of contract at Swindon in the summer, but both the club and player are thought to be keen on agreeing a new deal.
A couple of Scottish football reporters had suggested Williams was interested in a move to the Scottish capital, but speaking to Adver Sport about his contract situation last week, Williams said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time here. I understand my contract is up in the summer, but I’ve enjoyed my time here and I want to stay.
"If we can get something sorted, amazing, if not then who knows? But I’ve felt really at home here.
"The fans have given me a great reception from the day I walked in. It’s been a great time in my career, and I’d like to stay. Hopefully, something can get sorted."
Despite receiving their fair share of criticism of selling players too easily this season, Town's steadfast refusal to budge on Williams has likely avoided a repeat of September's late sale of Harry McKirdy to the same club.
McKirdy left Swindon for Hibs well after the August deadline, with the forward later revealing that the Easter Road men had needed to ask for an extension from FIFA to push the move through.
More incomings are expected at Swindon before the 11pm deadline.
