AT the start of the season, hopes among Swindon Town fans were high that promotion could be achieved one way or another - especially after the extraordinary campaign which preceded it.

But in the second season of Clem Morfuni's ownership, Town have fallen rather flat both on and off the pitch and find themselves in, arguably, a more difficult position to make the play-offs than they remarkably managed 12 months ago.

The gap to the top seven is just four points, but in one of the most competitive divisions for some time, does anyone think Swindon can repeat last year's near-heroics?

Adver Sport asked the many Town supporter groups, podcasts, vlogs, and content creators for their end-of-season forecast.

Old Duffer - Kev: "I think we will finish the season about ninth position. Why? Too many changes in personnel, not consistent, squad is weaker after transfer window. An average season overall."

Old Duffer - Russ: "I think we will finish in seventh place, making the play-offs. We may fall short over the two legs again, though! Depends on injuries and suspensions, [Rushian] Hepburn-Murphy could be our jewell!"

Fools Rush In - Adam Wood, Craig Arnold, Nick Smith, Gary Johnson, Rich Fawcett, Ben Nicholls, Warren Cook, Ciaran Hart, Paul Maslin, Mark Davies, and Steven Fyfe: "Our vote is split between making the play-offs and just missing out.

"Poor recruitment leading to imbalances in the squad has led to consistently inconsistent performances.

"Brittle when missing first-team players and a first 11 weakened from last year, but, with players returning from injury and suspension, and a head coach we believe in, the hope is fortune will be on our side."

Loathed Stranger Podcast: "I can see us just missing out on the play-offs. A combination of injuries, lack of depth and seniority in key areas, and adjustments to Morris’ style will see us be inconsistent from here-on-in.

"I do, however, think that with a full summer and pre-season to bed in, and hopefully lots of input on transfers, Morris could be a lot more successful next season."

Official Supporters Club - Vic Morgan: "I’m trying to go with my head rather than my heart on this one.

"Sadly, I think the Town will just miss out on the play-offs this season. The lack of a consistent run of positive results may just be our Achilles heel. I hope they prove me wrong! Prediction -10th."

TrustSTFC - Alex Pollock: "I definitely feel that we’re underachieving this season, but with the new head coach and some new arrivals in January, I’m remaining hopeful that we’ll make the play-offs this year, and at least that seventh spot.

"The next few weeks will be really crucial in determining if we’re going to push on up the table! Let’s see if the away win against Salford was the kick-start into the Jody Morris era."

The Sir Tom Broadbent Lounge - Mark Hanrahan: "Town appear to be marginally worse off this season than last in most departments, and that is going to prove to be the case in relation to our end of season achievement.

"Ninth position despite last-day dramatics with a play-off place still within grasp."
