SWINDON Town defender Ellis Iandolo has revealed he is out for the season after sustaining a heel injury in training this week.
Iandolo played 90 minutes of Swindon's 3-0 victory over Harrogate Town at the County Ground on Saturday, February 25 but failed to make the latest Robins squad for the weekend's 1-1 draw with Leyton Orient due to the injury.
Jody Morris stated the versatile defender was unlikely to play against The O's with a heel injury on Thursday, and minutes after the full-time whistle blew at Brisbane Road on Saturday, Iandolo broke the news via his Instagram account.
On his story, Iandolo posted a photo of his left foot in a protective boot along with the caption: "Not the way I wanted to finish the season...
"Hopeful the boys can finish it strong and get us into them play-offs. COYR."
The 25-year-old joins French defender Mathieu Baudry in being ruled out for the remainder of Town's promotion push, while another hamstring problem for Reece Devine may force him to miss another lengthy period too.
Devine was making his first league start for Swindon on Saturday before being forced off in the 53rd minute.
Before that point, the left wing-back was impressive in spells and showed the ability Town coaches had often said he possessed.
Post-match, Morris admitted it did not look good for the former Manchester United trainee.
Morris said: "I'm devastated for him because he's a good lad. He's trained really well.
"Ideally, I didn't want to start him. But he said he felt great. Even at half-time, he was saying how good he was feeling.
"You all saw him and good he was - he looked like he wanted to take the game by the scruff of the neck - but he's ended up coming off with a hamstring injury. It doesn't look the greatest, to be fair.
"That's the poor side of football. You've got people like that who have had so many injuries, and they have to face another lengthy spell out.
"But then you've got the other side with Harrison Minturn who's come in and done great on his first league start of the season.
"He's just starting off his career, and he's a homegrown boy, so there's nothing better for fans."
Morris said Jake Cain was absent from the Town squad on Saturday after struggling with tonsillitis but is expected to return next weekend.
