FORMER Swindon Town midfielder Anthony Grant has signed for League Two Crawley Town until the end of the season.

The 35-year-old was released by Swindon in 2022 and went on to play a handful of games for National League Scunthorpe United.

But following the mutual termination of Grant's contract in Lincolnshire, 'The General' had been working as a pundit for BBC Radio Wiltshire while plotting his next career move.

There were hopes from some Swindon fans that Grant may make a temporary return to Wiltshire, but the combative midfielder has opted to join up with former coach Scott Lindsey in Sussex instead.

After bringing Grant to the People's Pension Stadium, Lindsey said: “I’m really pleased to have signed Anthony, he's a real combative midfield player with vast experience, and with the injuries that we've sustained of late he will add to our numbers.

“He can also play as a defender, so we’re really pleased to have him on board.”

Meanwhile, acting CEO and director of football at Crawley, Chris Galley said: “I’m looking forward to Anthony getting out on the pitch for Crawley Town.

“He has been in training with us this season and has shown that he is going to be an important player for us as we battle against relegation.”

Grant could return to the County Ground on the final day of the season as the Red Devils take on the Robins in League Two.
