IN THIS week’s Town Talk, Swindon Town Official Supporters Club delve into Jody Morris’ recent assessment of his team, an Evening with Michael Doughty, and the group’s treat for older super fans.

I think it’s fair to say that the proverbial fat lady has started singing and Swindon Town’s season is pretty much over. To be honest, she’s been warming up for a while now!

Conceding so many late goals really has been our Achilles heel this season, and Hartlepool United were the latest team to benefit from this on Saturday. Jody Morris’ description of the team as “fragile” really hit the nail on the head.

As I wrote in our last column, it’s critical that we build the spine of next season’s squad around experienced players – starting with Charlie Austin.

Last week, the OSC held an Evening with Michael Doughty in the Legends Lounge. This was a great event, and it was brilliant to listen to Michael talk about his time at the club.

He told some brilliant stories about Richie Wellens and some of the players at the club during his time here. He really is a class act and probably one of the most cultured midfield players that we’ve seen at Swindon Town.

The second half of the evening gave Michael the chance to talk about his new role as Chief Sustainability Officer. It’s an exciting role and a critical one when Michael explained what is happening to the planet now.

At the end of the evening, the OSC held an auction and raffle. Ticket sales included, we raised £1,991in total. This will go into the new sustainability fund that Michael will use for future initiatives with the club.

The OSC were delighted to help in celebrating Roger Smart’s 80th birthday at the recent match against Stockport County. Roger is a true STFC legend and we presented him with a commemorative shirt at half-time.

Members of the OSC committee attended the Sponsors Evening last week. On our table were Sol Brynn and Tomi Adeloye. It was great to have the opportunity to chat to both players about the season so far. Both players spoke very well and were a pleasure to spend the evening with.

We’ve now confirmed the date for the End of Season Presentation. This will be held on Wednesday, May 3 in the Legends Lounge.

These are always fantastic evenings and a great opportunity for fans to meet the players. Tickets are now on sale to OSC members and will go on general sale soon – just keep an eye on socials.

Friday will be an exciting day for 11 ardent Swindon Town fans who will be senior mascots for the home match with Mansfield Town.

The OSC purchased 11 senior mascot packages, and these were offered out to super fans aged 60 or over. A panel of independent judges reviewed all applications, and the selected nominations will receive the full mascot experience! COYR!
