SWINDON TOWN head coach Jody Morris has said he feels no pressure from the club's board, amidst his sides current lack of form.
Having only picked up two wins since he took charge of the League Two club in January, the West-Londoner has had a difficult start to life at Town so far.
Tension has risen further following Swindon’s dramatic plummet down the league table in recent weeks, after their defeat to Tranmere on Monday made it four defeats in a row.
But Swindon boss Morris has reiterated that he has full faith in himself and from the club board that he is the right man for the job, despite his disappointing start in Wiltshire.
He said: “I don’t feel pressure from upstairs, all I can do is get on with my job and carry on working hard.
“I think it’s quite clear that the suspensions and injuries we’ve had to deal with hasn’t helped, but it still hasn’t been up good enough and I know that.
“I do feel though that we aren’t maybe where we could be in the table, we have performed better than the results have suggested.
"I want to get the best out of these players, we just need to try get some confidence back in the group in these final six games.”
It’s been a demoralizing past couple of months for the Wiltshire outfit, having not picked up three points since February 25, a 3-0 victory against Harrogate.
But the former Derby County and Chelsea assistant coach firmly believes his players have the confidence in each other to get out of the rot they currently find themselves in.
“I understand there’s been moments such as Mansfield in particular, where supporters look at the body language of the team and begin to ask questions.
“But I know the players have total faith In each other. I see it in training, and I’ve been pleased with their application as they’re trying to push each other to make things right.”
Morris’ men host play-off chasing AFC Barrow on Saturday, and Town will be seeing the outing as an opportunity to start turning things around with the season rapidly coming to a close.
The Swindon head coach is hopeful that his side will be able to give the County Ground something to cheer about this weekend.
Morris said: “We’re at home, if we can come out of the game with a decent result and performance, hopefully it will set us on our way to making things right.
“We just all need to stick together as a group and continue to work effortlessly to fix our troubles.”
