SWINDON TOWN head coach Jody Morris admitted that his side should have executed their chances better in their 0-0 draw against Barrow on Saturday.

The League Two side had plenty of opportunities to secure what would have been their first victory since February 25, but just couldn’t find the back of the net.

The result means it is now nine games without a win, and Town boss Morris said that although he believed his side played better than they have in recent weeks, they need to be more ruthless in the final third.

He told the media after the match: “I thought we looked like more of a team today, we had a lot of control and dominated the match, but I would have liked us to take our chances better.

“I thought we mixed our game up well in the first half, but there were also times in front of goal where the technical side of us wasn’t great.”

“It’s definitely an ongoing process trying to be slicker in the opponent's box.”

One of the big talking points in the game occurred in the second half, when Town forward Rushian Hepburn-Murphy was dragged down by Patrick Brough in the box, but the home side's penalty claims were waived away by referee Paul Howard.

In what could have been the difference between the two sides had it been given, Morris was confident that the man in the middle got the important decision wrong.

“We’ve got a definite penalty there, I have to admit,” said the West-Londoner.

“When you’ve had the run we’ve been on and you’re so desperate to get out of it, all you want is to get the decisions you deserve, and we didn’t today.

“It was disappointing to see, but that’s just something we have to move on from.”

Although they couldn’t break the deadlock, it appeared to be a slightly improved performance from Town than what supporters have seen recently, limiting play-off hopefuls Barrow to very few chances throughout.

Head coach Morris is hopeful that his team are getting closer to turning their fortunes around, as they now look ahead to a tough Bradford City test on Tuesday evening.

“I thought we looked more prepared to pounce on unforced errors and turnovers than we have done, the players felt comfortable out there.

“We can take the positives from the clean sheet, and it’s another game we’ve been in control in.

“We’ve got a fast turnaround coming up against Bradford which is ideal, I’m hoping we can use today as a starting foundation for turning things around.”
