Adver Sport assesses the performances of the Swindon Town players following the club's 0-0 draw at home to Barrow on Saturday.
GK: Sol Brynn – 6
The Town keeper had very little to do apart from some routine catches and saves. He was a dominant figure in his area for most of Barrow’s set pieces.
LB: Frazer Blake-Tracy – 7
Whoscored.com rated him as Town’s best player on Saturday with a rating of 7.74. He had the most touches out of anyone on the pitch (108), constantly looking to drive forward and make something happen from his full back position. Defensively good too.
CB: Tom Clayton – 7
A deserved clean sheet alongside Tom Brewitt, which appears to be the blossoming of a promising duo at the back. The 22-year-old was impressive in the air winning five aerial duels, more than any Town player. He also produced a brilliant goal line clearance in the second half when Tom White’s header looked to be going in.
CB: Tom Brewitt – 7
Was given Town’s man of the match and it was probably deserved. Nullified the physical threat of Barrow’s direct approach, and didn’t give their forwards much of a look in. A performance worthy of a contract extension perhaps?
RB: Remeao Hutton – 5
The full back wasn’t able to fire in as many deliveries into the box as the Town’s leading assistant usually does, potentially due to his former club doing their homework on him. He had the occasional neat link up with teammate Rushian Hepburn-Murphy down the right flank, but not the 24-year-old’s best outing.
CM: Jonny Williams – 6
A driving force from the midfield, which was positive to see, but he will be frustrated that he isn’t on the scoresheet following his chances on goal. The Welshman was inches away from heading in Charlie Austin’s curling effort at the back post but was unable to latch on to it. Certainly not a bad shift from Williams, though should have been more clinical at times.
CM: George McEachran – 5
Has been the heart of the midfield in recent weeks and the catalyst for progressing play but struggled to see much of the ball in this affair. A surprisingly low 68 touches for the former Chelsea youngster, who had a hard time coping with the physicality of Barrow.
CM: Saidou Khan – 4
Unfortunately, the game seemed to pass him by. The midfielder struggled to drive the ball forward like his usual self and was rather sloppy in possession. Dealt with the physical challenge of Barrow well though.
LW: Jacob Wakeling – 5
He looked like the most likely to make something in the first half, consistently beating his man for pace down the left flank. Unfortunately, his end product let him down at times once he got into the dangerous areas. Nonetheless, one of Town’s brighter sparks against his former team.
ST: Charlie Austin – 5
Town’s talisman had a tough afternoon it had to be said. He impressed with his hold up play in the Barrow half and found his teammates in threatening positions. Austin himself though was restricted to very few chances on goal, with his biggest chance being the aforementioned curled strike which Williams couldn’t head in.
RW: Rushian Hepburn-Murphy – 6
Was in the centre of attention when he was brought down by Patrick Brough inside the Barrow box, but referee Paul Howard waived the decision away. His pace and trickery caused problems for the opponents at times but didn’t do it enough.
SUBS:
Dylan Kadji (McEachran 82’) - 6
Played a lovely over the top ball to Hepburn-Murphy late but the forward’s effort could only find the hands of goalkeeper Paul Farman. Didn’t have enough time on the field to properly affect the game.
Ronan Darcy (Williams 87’) – N/A
Came on in the dying moments when the affair was rather manic with Town searching for a winner. Couldn’t settle into the match with just minutes remaining.
Tyrese Shade (Wakeling 81’) – 5
Provided a fresh burst of pace and energy in the front three but wasn’t able to get a stamp the match with only ten minutes or so left.
